Yoga, Fascia, and Functional Movement – Exploring the Fascial Lines of the Feet

WELLNESS YOGA

The foot is the only contact point between the body and the ground.

The 26 bones of the foot form a complex structure, which plays a critical role in the way in which our body stabilizes during dynamic movement.

We usually pay the most attention to the bones, muscles, and ligaments of the foot. However, the fascial lines of the feet are deeply integrated with foot functioning, and fascial tensioning and elasticity play an important role in how we perceive, store, and transfer forces during movement.

Join renowned author and feet specialist Dr. Emily Splichal for this 3-part course in which we explore the latest research on how our feet, fascia, and functional movement are even more integrated than generally realized.

Learn how the plantar foot layers are a fascinating fascial pathway of interconnecting fascial lines, which are intended for optimal foot function and human performance.

Also, learn how to gauge and train fascial elasticity in the feet in order to more effectively transfer forces through the feet and increase movement integration and foot efficiency.

Dr. Emily will also show how to enhance balance and proprioception by integrating yoga exercises for proprioceptive training of the small nerves of the feet to stimulate greater movement accuracy and lower fall risk.

What You Will Learn:

The fascial connection between your client’s feet to the muscles of their core and how to properly strengthen and release the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of their feet for proper function and pain reduction.

  • Understand the power of the human foot from a proprioceptive and neuromuscular perspective.
  • Take a journey to the center of our stability and how our base and our feet are connected to that center of stability.
  • Introduction to “short foot” and learn short foot exercises that are used to activate the deep front line.
  • The concept of fascial tensioning is explained and explored.
  • Learn better ways to incorporate diaphragmatic breathing and understand why it’s so important.

  • Learn which exercises directly connect your feet to your core and improve proprioception and coordination.
  • Discover an activation workout perfect for rehab or the beginning of your sessions.
  • How foot biomechanics can affect pelvic stability and mobility.
  • How the anatomy of the foot and ankle, specifically the anatomy of the subtalar joint, relates to the frontal plane stability.

I wanted to expand on my thank you. Yoga U Online has been an absolute lifesaver for me. I moved from a yoga mecca to a yoga desert. Instead of having my choice of teachers and styles and special workshops, I now have to travel an hour to take a class. The excellent teachers and interesting topics at Yoga U Online have kept me moving ahead in my practice. I am grateful for all the wonderful yoga you bring to me. Thank you.
