Free Download! Yoga for Healthy Hips – Do’s and Don’ts with Dr. Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall

WELLNESS YOGA

Yoga can help keep the hip joint healthy, but it can also affect the hip joint in undesirable ways says Dr. Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall in this free download. And, it’s important to know the difference.

Most people practicing yoga wonder if there is a way to use yoga to keep the hip joint healthy, and whether there are certain parts of yoga that should be avoided to maintain the health of the joint.

Dr. Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall share insights into the main causes of joint deterioration that might lead to the need for hip replacement, as well as some of the early markers to check for.

They also offer insights into femoroacetabular impingement syndrome, which can be a precursor of hip replacement. They discuss why it may be more likely in yoga practitioners, and how to check to make sure you’re not developing it,

The number of hip replacement procedures is sky rocketing, and according to some studies, by far the largest increase is in people aged 45 to 54, where hip replacement jumped by 205 percent to 51,900 from 2000 to 2010. For yoga teachers working with students over the age of 50, there’s an increasing need to know the basics of how to work safely with people who have had a hip replacement.

Dr. Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall discuss some of the factors yoga teachers and practitioners need to be aware of when teaching or practicing yoga and offer basic insights in some of the do’s and don’ts for working with people with hip replacement.
