As yogis, watching the current election cycle unfold, has been a painful experience. Everything we see in the media seems at odds with the values that attracted so many of us to yoga in the first place:  The quest for inviting more love, wisdom, light, compassion, and peace into our lives.

It is tempting to tune it all out and say, enough is enough. However, as yogis, if we stand together for our values, we can make a tremendous difference. The world is watching, and we have a responsibility, as the richest society on earth, that is greater than our own individual ideals. 

If you have been wondering what more you can do and how you can make a difference, we bring you these words of inspiration and encouragement from leading yoga teachers. Finally, see below for four simple and easy things you can do that will make a world of difference.

4 Easy Ways You Can to Make a Difference

1. Vote Early. Avoid long lines and last minute distractions. Many polling places are open Saturday before the election as well. You can find details of the location and hours for your polling place here.

2. Bring a Friend – or Two or Three! If you know someone who may have a hard time getting to the polls or who may need a little encouragement, reach out to them! Offer to drive them, help them find their voting location, make a voting date, reach out!

3. Share! Share a pic with your Facebook friends of yourself after voting (please note that no selfies are allowed in the voting booth). Research shows it’s a simple way to inspire others to follow suit and take the time to vote.

4. Spread the Word! Help us reach as many fellow yogis as possible! Take a moment to Like and Share our #VoteLove message on Facebook.
